Firefighter feather Party
Fire House Movie Night
Have you ever thought about all that our local fire departments do for us on a daily basis. These men and women put their lives on the line every day to keep our community safe and many of the smaller communities it is a volunteer fire department. We here at SERVPRO are always actively looking for ways to give back to our community. Recently we learned of a local volunteer fire department that was having a feather party to help raise money to help support their department. We contacted the department and asked how we could help. They asked if we would be willing to donate some sort of gift basket to auction off at their feather party. We thought it would be nice to put together a "Movie Night" basket to donate to their silent auction! We put in three "Fire themed “Movies, Popcorn, Beef Sticks, Candy, and Soda and a few other goodies. We then hand delivered it to the station before their fundraiser. They loved the basket. Sometimes it feels great to let our hometown heroes know they are appreciated
Oh Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas tree!
Form many people the best part of the Holiday season is not the Christmas office parties or the family get-togethers. It may not even be the holiday shopping or the cookies! No, for some the Holiday season is all about finding that perfect tree! In many homes Christmas trees are hailed as the centerpiece to their Holiday Celebration. With that being said, we must remember that Christmas tree fires do happen.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) reports that local fire departments respond to an average of 250 Christmas tree related fires each year. It is for this reason that it is so important to follow a few simple steps before buying and decorating that Perfect Tree!
1) When choosing a live tree, make sure the needles are fresh and green. Give the tree a good shake and make sure the needles are not falling off.
2) Make sure your tree has a fresh cut on the bottom to allow your tree to absorb the water it’s going to need
3) Keep your tree well-watered. A fresh cut tree can soak up to a gallon a day. Plain tap water is sufficient there is no need to add sugar or aspirin or any other additive to it.
4) Place your tree at least 3 feet from all heating sources such as fire places, radiators, candles heat vents or lights. Your tree does not need to be kept warm.
5) Make sure your tree is not blocking any exits
6) Before decorating your tree make sure all strands of lights are carefully checked. All wires should be free of breaks or frays. No cracked sockets or loose connection. Make sure you only connect the recommended number of strands together
7) Make sure all lights are unplugged or turned off before going to bed or leaving home.
And Last but not least remember if a disaster does strike, SERVPRO® of East Toledo is open 24/7 and we help make it “Like it never even happened!”
November Contest Winner
November Contest Winner
First I would like to say thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our Contest this Month! This Month as I was making my rounds I decided it would be fun to see how much our Insurance Offices actually know about us. I put together a little quiz and dropped one off to each agency. I figured it would be something fun that the office staff could do in their down time. When they answered all the questions they then just had to Email me their Answers. If they got them all right they then got an entry to win a personal care basket that we put together. This basket was chucked full of some pretty cool stuff, everything from hair care products to bubble baths, cold medicine, and even some smell goods! What a great response we had! The winner of our November Contest is Terri Sutton from American Family Insurance! It was my pleasure to drop off the prize basket to her this morning! Congratulations Terri!
2015 Toys for Tots
Every Year There are Hundreds of families in our area that have a hard time making ends meat. This is especially true during the Holiday season. This is also the time of year that Many charities and organizations across the area ban together to help make sure that our area children can have a little something under the tree. One of our favorite campaigns is the Toys for Tots drive. Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks.
